NEW BOOTS, DR.MARTENS (ARE THEY WORTH THE PRICE?)

I finally caved and bought some new Docs. I've wanted a pair of Jadon boots for over two years now. I am a huge Dr Marten fan but I've only ever bought a pair of boots full price once. Back in my teen days when I saved up to buy a spanking new red pair. The rest I've found in thrift stores, online and in car boot sales or they were gifted. Bar the new Jadon boots I bought recently (RIP my bank account). I own glittery docs, purple, pink, blue, red, yellow, black and tie dye. I now am addicted to platform boots and feel when I wear anything but a platform boot that my foot is naked.

Anyways, I think the quality of the shoes are fantastic. Although they have recently started making new sandals and the prices are ridiculous. Almost 150 to 200 quid for a pair of sandals? jaysus! They are gorgeous but they never used to cost that much. I own one pair of Dr martens Romi Pink Sandals.

I bought these a long time ago second hand off a lovely lady on the Depop app. They cost 40 quid with shipping and were a great bargain! As far as sandals go I think they are fantastic for the price. My only complaint is that they are far too heavy. I bring them with me when I'm on a sun holiday and they are great for rocky surfaces however if you plan on spending most of your time on a beach in the sun I recommend getting a lighter pair of sandals. Try buy second hand as spending 100 up on a pair of sandals is a lot.

Mid October I went down to Seattle for a couple days. Perhaps the grunge in the air gave me reasoning to spend such an astronomical amount on a pair of boots. I bought these beautiful cherry red and black docs in the Dr. Marten store. I bought them because there was a 20 percent discount in the store, they were also cheaper to buy in the US then to buy in Ireland or Canada. They cost around 150 in euros. This is a lot for a pair of shoes but the more I think of it, the more I realize what great value for money they really are.

Last Christmas I bought a pair of platform creepers and platform boots. They were a cheap knock off brand and they didn't last. The boots sole came off and I had to get them repaired as I desperately wanted to wear them to a Metallica gig in June. Months later during my trip to Seattle the zip broke on them, thus I walked into a Dr. Marten shop and bought myself some snazzy new boots. I've been wearing these boots almost every day. I've worn them on snowy mountains and mucky hikes and they are still in great condition. I really do think the quality is fantastic and they were a good investment. If you can't afford to buy them new, keep an eye out online for discounts. Most docs I own have cost from 15 to 30 euro! It's all about timing and luck to be honest. I don't regret buying these boots new as I know they will last me a long time and they are something I've wanted but put off buying for years.
